Questions about Loved Ones Check In?
support@lovedonescheckin.comWhen reporting a problem, include the approximate time, your time zone, what you expected and what happened. Add the app version if you know it. Please don’t send account credentials, invitation codes or someone else’s phone number.
Private iPhone beta · By invitation
How do I join the private beta?
Use your personal TestFlight invitation to install LOCI, then enter the separate LOCI invitation code supplied by Justin on the Join the private beta screen. These are two different invitations. Use your code only on your own phone. If it fails, contact support rather than using someone else’s code or reinstalling.
How do I finish setup?
Tap Invite Your Emergency Contact. Choose a contact, then tap their phone number, or enter the details manually. Save & Prepare Invitation creates the invitation; Invite through Messages lets you send it yourself. Your contact opens the link and accepts, without installing the app. Refresh Contact Status, then return to Finish setup and select Enable Check-Ins and Calls when you are both ready.
What should I check before leaving setup?
Review your own name and phone number and save your preferred daily check-in window. The initial window is 9 AM–1 PM. Allow notifications for reminders. Optional monthly reminder calls are separate; leave them off unless you want them. Arrange any real test calls with your contact first.
Whose number appears on the invitation page?
The masked number identifies the emergency contact who will receive calls. It is not the LOCI calling number. LOCI calls from (877) 357-9974; saving that number may help your contact recognize it, but does not guarantee delivery.
Does LOCI know whether I am out of bed?
No. A check-in records qualifying app activity or motion, not whether you got out of bed or are safe. Opening LOCI in bed can satisfy a check-in. Unlocking the phone or using other apps does not itself count.
What if I am offline or notifications are off?
Reconnect to the internet and tap Refresh Account if LOCI shows a connection error. Do not assume an offline action reached the server. If notifications are off, enable them in iPhone Settings or open LOCI during your window and confirm your status. Missing a reminder does not prevent a contact call from becoming eligible.
How does a daily check-in work?
Choose a daily check-in window in the app. Opening the app during that window or qualifying motion detected by the app can record a check-in. Motion depends on device permissions and background behavior. If you are unsure, open the app and confirm your current status.
What happens if I miss my window?
LOCI schedules reminders at the end of a missed window and five and ten minutes later. Press and hold a reminder, then tap “I’m Okay.” If no check-in is received, a contact call becomes eligible fifteen minutes after the window ends. The contact must have accepted your invitation and calling must be activated. Check in promptly when reminded. Delivery depends on device settings, network access and service availability.
Are Loved Ones reminders the same as emergency-contact calls?
They are separate. Optional Loved Ones reminder calls go to your own saved phone number on your saved monthly schedule. Missed-check-in calls go to your eligible emergency contact. Each has its own settings.
Can an emergency contact decline or withdraw?
Yes. An invited contact can review the invitation and decline or withdraw through the invitation page. Withdrawal pauses the relevant contact calls; it does not delete the app user’s account.
Why might a call or notification be delayed or missed?
Phone filtering, notification permissions, network availability and device settings can affect delivery. LOCI is a connection and check-in tool, not an emergency response service. If you need immediate help, contact emergency services or someone you trust directly.
How do I request account deletion?
In the app, open My Info → Delete Account and confirm. Once the server accepts the request, future check-ins and calls are disabled and cleanup begins. A call already in progress may finish. Uninstalling the app does not request account deletion. Contact support if you need help or an update on your request.
What information does LOCI use?
LOCI uses profile and contact details, account identifiers, notification tokens, your saved window and time zone, check-in records, consent records and call outcomes to provide the service. Selecting a contact does not upload your whole address book. Supabase provides the backend, Twilio handles calls and Apple delivers push notifications.
How long is information kept?
Application check-in history and completed call outcomes become eligible for cleanup after 90 days. Unresolved call records and records needed for deletion may be retained longer. Provider logs and backups have separate processes; we are confirming their limits and cannot promise that every copy is erased within a fixed period. For privacy or deletion questions, contact support.
Is the app available now?
LOCI is available to invited friends-and-family testers through TestFlight. It is not a general public release. Contact support with questions about joining.
